They haven’t spoken in months but he knows Luhan’s in Beijing the moment the lights appear on the horizon. When he turns his phone on there’s a single text from an unknown number, timestamped twelve minutes ago.

Luhan doesn’t have wine glasses so they drink out of mugs. Yixing’s says World’s Best Boss, a gift from Laogao. Luhan’s cat keeps butting at his elbow for attention and upsetting his cup. It’s weird. They used to have to lock themselves in the toilet just to get some breathing space and now Luhan has a whole life here that Yixing has never touched

Ten drives a Rolls Royce. He takes said Rolls Royce around the college town as if to make every car that he passes look like a plain Jane, almost self-conscious of itself. It's a white monster of a vehicle with a camel hood and so clean it gives of a light in the dimmest of darknesses, cast under a broken street light. you built this world so well in such an otherwise short fic!! like i love the way you name dropped brands and even like... i don't know how to word this, but the details you choose to divulge end up saying so much about the characters. i think my favourite line is On the contrary, Joy is a leg-crosser.
