I question if the little filigree sugar-tongs, made something like scissors, could have opened themselves wide enough to take up an honest, vulgar good-sized piece; and when I tried to seize two little minnikin pieces at once, so as not to be detected in too many returns to the sugar-basin, they absolutely dropped one, with a little sharp clatter, quite in a malicious and unnatural manner. But before this happened we had had a slight disappointment. In the little silver jug was cream, in the larger one was milk. As soon as Mr Mulliner came in, Carlo began to beg, which was a thing our manners forebade us to do, though I am sure we were just as hungry; and Mrs Jamieson said she was certain we would excuse her if she gave her poor dumb Carlo his tea first. Hope it's OK to muscle in here but I didn't know where else to comment! I just wanted to say how much I loved your Pros story, Fathers and Sons (I couldn't work out how to reregister at The Automated Hatstand so I couldn't leave a comment there...). I've been reading Pros for a long time now and it takes a lot to move me these days but I felt quite choked as I read your story (in a good way..). I thought it was a great idea and beautifully executed, so thank you and I hope you write more Pros one day!

It was one of those ideas that just sort of fell onto the page pretty much fully formed. I'm trying to write some more but I managed to get embroiled in a...well...a thing with a plot, and the plot's running out. Also, I'm half killing myself with first-term-of-uni socialising and clubs (and a bit of work, don't get me wrong), so I'm not sure when I'll find the time. ....train back home's five hours though, so maybe christmas time :P
