Seems like. It's just so freaking dissapointing. I'm probably not going to see this one.
When the first movie came out, everyone I know loved it. But this time, my friend swho don't like Star Trek all loved it, and all my Trekkie friends think it needs to Go Die in a Fire and JJ should have the frnachise ripped from him.
So I'm assuming being a Trekkie since third grade, I won't react well to this film. Which is a shame because I love Pegg as Scotty, Urban, as McCoy, and Cho as Sulu.
I'm on the fence with Yelchin. he did a good job but I have issue with how very young he was. Which leads into bigger issues with youthful casting across the board and how often I'm not buying it, but that's another rant.

But the change in the timeline happened the day Jim Kirk was born.
Khan was born in the 20th century.
So an AU can't explain Khan suddenly becoming a white guy.
Basically, J.J. Abrams & co. didn't give a sh*t, they just did what they thought was 'cool'.

If you don't pay attention to the plot.
And it's not Star Trek anymore.
You're not missing much by skipping it.
Some of the casting is wonderful (Urban, Quinto, Pegg, Cho), but Yelchin is a we bit young. But yea, most of the casting was a big on the young side.
