In the end, you've fulfilled your own desires, but what have you really done?

In the end, all of that stuff matters only with respect to how it's affected how you've interacted with, influenced, had an impact on others.

I get that way sometimes playing The Sims. (You're supposed to, though; the original point of the game was designing houses.) I'll sniff around at websites full of custom furniture and decor to download -- what can only be called, I guess, room porn -- and just load up on stuff.

But the fun only really starts when I'm putting something together for a Sim I've already created, because I start imagining things about them, and filling up a room or a house with something I think would fit them. It then turns into an elaborate game of virtual dollhouse.
