HAH, UCSC always calls to get donations from me, too. Even tho I'm no longer a student, I can't afford to donate to them and it's not like my $5 is going to go far anyway. The crackup part is they always begin by asking for $500 and the first time they did it, i straight up CACKLED at the poor girl on the other end and said, "you know i was a Lit major, right?" she was not amused. she was also a lit major. i think i squashed her famous-writer-with-a-big-paycheck dreams.

Hahaha - it's sad when people don't want to own the truth about their own majors. I was a Psych major...that qualified me for reception work, basically. I might as well have just had a general three year B.A. for all the good it's done me finding work.

See, now this is a thing I really just don't get about the mercenary habits of Universities. They charge you $20K a year to go there and then expect you to be so grateful afterwards that you want to give them even MORE money. I'm glad it's not a thing over here, although the charging for schooling is still getting worse, but that's nowhere near as bad.

I suggest a compromise. Either they make you pay for your schooling *Or* they can ask you for donations after you graduate... And of course the donations are contingent on you having a good time while you're there.

Well tuition was only $5k/year (plus living costs and textbooks). Windsor's obviously charging me a lot, lot more than that, but I'll donate to them when I'm done. They're the ones giving me a degree I can actually earn money with after all, and anyway I'm having a much better experience at Windsor than I did at Western.
