the mask that unmasks us all-
a fixation with hiding truth.
to give the impression of coping
smiling cracks the inner cold.
will she still be talking?
can you see the double face?
this face, this changing face
changing to suit the day
to out face the person i wish to please.
can one see beyond the veil?
is there a world beyond the porcelain?
brittle it falls away,
to leave truth naked on faces empty.
masks that unmask us all.

right on right on.
once again i am amazed at your ability to articulate yourself and see so clearly what many are unable to see themselves, or perhaps admit to themselves.
and i hope you feel lots better soon!!! everyone, including myself, misses you!!!

But if people don't go look beneath the cover, it is partially their fault for not searching deeper to find who the person, whether it be themself or another, truly is. Thinking that you are something that you are not. Those people can not take all of the blame though, if you wish to give that out. We are all foolish.

Mike-this is damned interesting because Ailene and I have discussed this several types, your apparent schizophrenic behaviour! But all masks are facets of our personality, most people are complex enough to be layered in such fashion. A person can't be characterized by what we immediately perceive, and that's the real fun of getting to know someone. It is true, I am not-as you say-merely an intellectual, but that's what I choose to present to some people I know, for many motivations.
