My mum's married and she has a job. Anyway, it's just guidance. If you really don't know what you want to do, you can just take the core subjects. Lots of jobs you can learn on the job.

I don't think you can go from doing your NEWTs to immediately being a professor. What would you even teach?

If you wanted to stay in school, you could go to University, but I think you'd have to do a whole bunch of non-magical lessons alongside your NEWTs.
