People often want to borrow my things (books, DVDs, and CDs mostly) and I don't loan them out for a very specific reason: BECAUSE I NEVER GET THEM BACK. When I was in High School I loaned out my VHS copy of Chasing Amy to someone that was supposed to be my best friend. What happened? He never returned it. I asked him day after day for it back

last year scott lent his beer pong table to our friend's girlfriend for a party that she was having that we really didn't want to attend since we can't stand her & she and her friends are super trashy. a week after the party we asked for it back & she came up with some excuse that it was in her mom's closet or something and we would get it soon. a month later the excuse was something along the lines of "her grandma cleaned & hid it, but don't worry, we'd get it back". after 3 months, we found out that her 400 pound sister sat on it and broke it. her boyfriend (our good friend) felt so bad that HE dished out the $150 to buy us a new one.

so yeah........lending stuff out very rarely works out well.

as for that turtles book, i've been getting all super dorky lately and going to a lot of comic conventions, and they tend to have stuff like that super cheap. i'll keep my eye out for you!!!

i see what you're saying and i know it's annoying, but it's just stuff in the end. you know? i think the fire really drove that home for me. things are not important.

stuff can be actually really annoying because one has to carry it around as one moves and moves and then has to move again (in my case i've moved like twelve times in the past seven or eight years).

that's one of those core life lessons. if you lend something to someone, you should just expect that you're not going to get it back. if it is important to you, you should simply never lend it out. sad but true.
