[the screen blinks on and the boy peers into the screen. he's slowly getting used to using this thing. on his cheek there is a smear of blood, and though it might not be clear it isn't his own. behind him the shadows seem to move a little peculiarly, but Link either takes no notice, or isn't alarmed by it]

They are real in the sense that they have the ability to inflict damage upon you.

[Was he worried about kids? A bit, but he figured he would give the maze a proper greeting by pissing someone off before acting the hero.]
