what do we want?
we all want to be happy.
but boy..
do we have some different ideas about what THAT is
we all came from the same place
we all graduated on the same bleachers
on the same day, at the same time
we'll go in as many different directions as we can
where will we end up?
will we all live?
will we all succeed?
will we all make the world a better place?
will we all be happy?
no, no, no, no
It's all about the money
Some people go to 30+k schools
so they can get 100+k jobs
some people go to the CCs
because everything else is too expensive
or they don't want their lives to change very much
some people join the military
because college shouldn't cost anything
who'd pay for THAT? Those smart kids sure are stupid..
those stupid people who don't go
to college aren't going to make anything of themselves
fuck those ideas
we all came from the same damn bleachers
no need to stereotype each other
there's no telling where any of us will go
I sure don't know where I'm going
I'm going to SUNY Albany
Why?
Had to go somewhere.
Can't just stay here forever.

Economics and Business Administration Double Major I say..

It doesn't mean a god damn thing
What are we going to college for?
So we can get good degrees?
So we can get good jobs?
So we can get a lot of money?
So we can be happier?
I didn't think it was that much work to be happy..
I think we're all fooling ourselves, we just don't know it yet
We want money, happiness, prestige, whatever
before you know it you'll be a wealthy woman, self made
but you're too old to have kids now
before you know it you'll have a fantastic job, lots of money
but you have to move so far away from the people you love, you can't enjoy it
before you know it you'll get sucked into a world where you are just a slave
you'll be doing all of this crap.. working hard.. not really knowing why
were we really meant to live this way?
work and work and work and work to no end, with some small hope of retiring with
a good portion of cash?

You work hard in high school, to go to a good college, to get a degree, to get a job, to make money, to be happy.

You go to high school to be happy.
