I Might Be in Greece with The Family...........

Thanks for all the positive responses to my homecoming entry. I thought I would follow up on the same sort of theme with my views on television. I simply watch very little on TV now. So little that I am not going to have a television in my new flat. I am going to become televisionless. After all I only really watch one programme at the moment. That ( Read more... )

Good for you on the TV issue. Me too - I've not watched TV since March, and can't receive a signal. I gave away my two spare tellies, and have kept one for watching DVD's on, however I've only watched DVD's twice since March, so I may yet get rid of that too ( ... )

Oh, I also want to say that I've not suffered from having no TV. I've gained - more time, more freedom to think for myself. I've read more books. I've done more exercise. + loads more.

I see what you mean about the policeman - though I guess from recent publicity that they all racist anyway or so the black police of the Met would have us believe. Another issue maybe. And radio is cracking nowadays: So much good stuff on there from Five Live to Radio 7. Glad I invested in a DAB one to get all the speech stuff. And no doubt I shall also read more too. I've had a bunch of books I've been meaning to read and the new flat is next door to a library so I really do have no excuse. Will have to make plans to visit a few people too. Nearly came to Preston for a bikers convention but it never came off.

Hope you are well and I'll get up to speed with your journal sooner rather than later. Hope the kids are good too

Well, you know you're welcome here any time.

The kids are fine - Lily and Dan are at Uni (Manchester/medicine and Coventry/Music respectively); Josh and probably Alice go next year.

A lot of tv annoys me nowadays. Some of it I do enjoy but the majority of what I like lately are documentaries!

I have surprised myself by loving The Family - I think it's because there's something about them that reminds me of my own family, not so much the shouting and the staying out until all hours etc as I never really did that, but the silly little things, like dancing around the lounge like idiots and cuddling up on the sofa! Whatever it is, like you, it's the only program I've actually made the effort to sit down and watch in months.
