basically it's two sites both dominated by the same sub-section of a different sub-culture.

4chan are the computer geeks, nerds, gamers and anarchist degenerates/trolls of the internet generation and are primarily male and socially inept.

tumbler is comprised of the computer geeks, nerds, gamers and degenerates/trolls of the hipster movement and are primarily female and socially inept.

They're the exact same thing, only of different sub-cultures and opposite genders so of course they hate each other. but there's also this kindred spirit attraction. I'm not sure if they need a good old fashioned hate fuck or it's a match made in lulz but either way the feuding is both frudian and amusing.
