Wedding stuff....

Dec 09, 2008 12:12

Okay, so I promised to post wedding details for those people who were interested, but ... honestly, there's so many details, and so many of them aren't very interesting (at least, I don't think so..?) that I'm at a loss as to what to say - so ... open post, reply in comments about what you want to know, and I'll answer all questions regarding the ( Read more... )

Haha, most people will either be interested in every minute detail (like, okay, me) or almost no details (basically just date/time). Good answer on "can I come?" - I found a surprising number of people that said, "I better be invited" or, almost worse, made comments that made it sound as if they were sure they'd be invited ("Oh, I could carpool with so-and-so"). I have to assume those people were either never married or didn't have to pay for the wedding themselves. To everyone that we couldn't invite, we said, "Come visit us any time and we'll buy you dinner. It'll be better than anything we'd serve you at the dinner, and we'll have lots more time to catch up anyway."

Oh, and if you WANT to answer questions...

What food are you serving? Open bar/wine and beer/signature drink/no drinks? (We opted for no alcohol except during the toasts and desserts. People didn't seem all that happy about it, but honestly...) Cake? What dress are the girls wearing? What kind of flowers will they have? (I imagine that you don't have knowledge regarding her dress, but if you do, everyone loves to see the bride's dress.) Do you and the guys get to wear crazy ties? I love a man in an interesting tie. Honeymoon?

1. Food is from Mama's Meatball - a local (very, very good) italian restaurant.

2. Beer/wine, no hard alcohol at all (champagne toast)

3. Cake is 3 layer, strawberry bottom (yay!), chocolate center, lemon top. We haven't made any decisions on final look for it, so no other details on the cake.

4. Flower details aren't finalized, though a lot of purples and blues (sky blue/periwinkle is the primary color, using purple flowers for accent, I think)

5. I have no knolwedge of the dress other than how much it cost (~$600)

6. We haven't done the guy's wear yet - going to do that in Jan/Feb sometime, I think Alexis wouldn't be that into crazy ties. I may do the white tux thing if I can pull it off.

7. Honeymoon is looking to be US Virgin Islands, ~10 days, leaving the day after the wedding. :)

1. Yum, that sounds like it would have a high tasty to price ratio. So much wedding food is so unimpressive and overly expensive.

3. I don't love cake, but cake with fruit is definitely the best. Have you seen the Mario Brothers cake? So awesome, but probably not worth the money.

6. To be fair, our guys didn't have weird ties either. The groomsmen wore light blue ties and vests, and Brian wore a white tie and vest. I'm not a huge fan of the white tux thing personally, but if you listened to what everyone ELSE said to do for your wedding, you'd go nuts.

7. Ooh, that could be really cool. I've never been anywhere like that (the closest, I suppose, was Mexico), although we're talking about going to Jamaica for a long weekend this winter.

Oh, photographer?

I personally love photos when wondering about people's weddings, but I can wait until the actual day to see them. Do you have photos of the engagement rings? :)

Also, what are the theme colors?

Are pictures of the ring, I think .. (can't check from work).

The sky blue/periwinkle color + white are the only two 'official' at this point, I think the florist is suggesting using purples as accents.

Yay!
How fun for you guys. Do you have a registry? That way at least people who can't be there can still contribute.
Your colors sound really nice.

haha I see.
Well, you both already have house type stuff, so it makes sense that it's not done yet. =]
