Fic! Only... it's Lost fic.

Following is a one-shot fic I wrote out of nowhere, and it's been stewing for a long time, and it took me forever to write it.  So, here it is.  The style is a bit weird-- I suppose you would say it's a series of vignettes in the life of Charlie Pace, Dom Monaghan's character on Lost.  I hope you enjoy it.

I'm so happy Sparky pointed her flist here, bc this is just beautiful and poignant and cohesive and wow. Heart rending without being sappy, introspective without losing fluidity. What a character study should be. Wonderful job :)

Wow wow wow, this is a really beautiful character study--just WOW. Such a pitiless look at that fall into self-hatred, and all the small steps that lead there... wow. Wow.

I'll shut up now. But, yeah. Beautiful.

Just now getting the chance to look through the comments left. Thank you so much for your response-- and it's all the more humbling when it comes from an author I respect. Also, that you recommended this really blows me away. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Here via app1e_pi's rec, and I like this so much, I rec'd it in my own LJ. I think you did a fabulous job expanding on some of the canon established by the show, and gave us a glimpse into Charlie's character that they may never have time to explore. Thanks so much for sharing this!

Thank you so much for the review and the recommendation-- I'm really blown away by the response you all have given me, and I truly enjoyed writing this piece, sad though it was. I'm glad you enjoyed reading it, and thank you once again.

Wow. This is a gorgeous story, very affecting. All those negations near the end are really hard to take--

Not a rock god, not Charles, not Francis, and not Cecil. Not God’s child, and no longer his own man.

That really made me feel for Charlie! I loved the way you wrote it, measured and painful. Really good.

Thank you. The negations are a bit hard to take-- made me sad to write that part-- but it turned out the way it should have, I suppose. At least we know where he is now :) I'm glad you enjoyed it.
