Also, I can think of a few ways he might have convinced you. Heeee. Oh, S7. Is it any wonder why you generally fill me with fuzzies and glee?
I'm indifferent to the top hat moment. It's the finger waggling that I adore. I love Mulder's storytelling in this one too, and how he starts his theories both times (or is it more than twice?) with the "I have a theory, and I'm going to tell you how it goes" bit. So much about this episode just makes me laugh or squee. I still LOL every time at the "What a trouper" line.
George Costanza, ladies and gentlemen! Oh man, thank God it's not just me who thinks of that. LOL.
I like that we're left with no real clue as to how the final trick was performed. I mean sure, doing the arm thing is one thing (hell, even I can do that); doing it with your head, as Mulder points out, is something else altogether. Hell, I just love this friggin' episode. It's too much fun not to. I even love the music and that black and white montage.
So much about this episode just makes me laugh or squee. I still LOL every time at the "What a trouper" line. Yes! And I love how he laughs at himself during the line before that, when he's saying that someone sawed his head off. So laid back and unserious! I love it.
Oh man, thank God it's not just me who thinks of that. All I could think of was George getting carried up a flight of stairs while "My Baby Takes the Morning Train" plays!
Yes yes yes to the forearms. Why is that so hot? I don't know. I have a thing for suspenders too. Like sometimes I'll go visit my husband at work? And he's sitting at his desk with this great view behind him, staring down at some papers before he notices I'm there? And he's got his jacket off and his sleeves rolled up? And these braided leather suspenders I got him? And...
Anyway.
Yeah, Scully would follow him anywhere. I just love how sleek she looks in this ep too. So pretty.
I love how this is such a low-key case, because it allows them to just sort of jauntily banter and solve the puzzle together without running for their lives or having hushed conversations over a rotting corpse. Which is all well and good, of course, but I like that they get a little break to do some magician brain-teasers in the sunshine.I know, right? This episode is such a favorite of mine for that. It's silly, as X-Files go, but sometimes the stultifying misery just gets to be a bit much and I like them to
( ... )
Forearms, I KNOW. If a guy rolls up his shirtsleeves, I'm a goner. I can't explain it.
I just love how sleek she looks in this ep too. So pretty. And her terrible haircut doesn't even look that bad!
but sometimes the stultifying misery just gets to be a bit much and I like them to be fun and silly. I wish Chris were more open to humor. It really helps things so much. Of course, it wouldn't be XF without things mostly being Very Serious, but oh, how I love it when they're just happy to be together. I realize that, objectively, S7 is not the best season. But there are so many moments like these here, where they're happy and smiling and light, and that counts for a lot.
Awww, this episode! I love this episode! This is like Mulder and Scully's little holiday of flirting and absurdity. Actually I think my memory of most episodes of S7 centres around what flirting occurred.
so let’s just pause a second for the hotness
Those people in the background are clearly thinking, 'wow, the FBI are hot these days' rather than 'woo, severed head!'
Also, I can think of a few ways he might have convinced you.
With slideshows! And maybe sockpuppets! I mean, what other ways are there?
“Good morning, Mr. and Mrs…”
Mulder and Scully being mistaken for a married couple (and the expressions that accompany it) will never get old. Guys, the universe is telling you something! Even oneshot characters are shipping you!
The scene outside the pool hall is absurdly adorable.
These two should stand in doorways as often as possible, because they just look plain lovely.
Actually I think my memory of most episodes of S7 centres around what flirting occurred. Yep. I hate to be so predictable, but I really think that most of the S7 episodes I'd classify as "good" or "great" are largely classified that way because of their blatant, smiley, goofy flirting. They're just so happy to be together!
Mulder and Scully being mistaken for a married couple (and the expressions that accompany it) will never get old. THE BEST. It should probably be somewhat cheesy, but it totally isn't. I think that's maybe because in other shows, they'd make a big deal and have a scene where the couple was all, "Oh, that was weird, huh? They thought we were MARRIED." But luckily, Mulder and Scully communicate largely through longing, meaningful looks, so they never have to have that conversation!
Okay, okay, it's not GREAT, but it's definitely not the worst hair of S7! (For some reason I think that's possibly SUZ/Closure, but I might just have negative impressions due to the fact that they both look like Wilson's Leather puked all over them in those episodes. And I think a turtleneck makes an appearance, too. Scully, the man is GRIEVING. Don't hurt him more.)
YAY! I'm going to try to get back into doing them again. Or at least not go months between them!
The flirting in this episode is off the charts. They're adorable. His sidewalk magic is the best, as is his reaction to Scully's arm trick at the end. Season 7!
