wow, dan. i knew i recognized a change in you, but i had no idea you'd been so impacted by this year. it really sounds like either experience would be amazing for next year, and i wish you luck with whatever you choose. it's the people like you who are really making a difference in this world, and i respect you so much for being so selfless during this time of your life. most kids would rather sit around at home working a boring 9 to 5 and partying on the weekends. you really are amazing, lebron.

hey dan,

i know we havent talked much since gr last summer and all but i dont even now what to say. Everything that has gone on in this past year sounds amazing and far more than i ever couldve imagined when you briefed us about it a while back. If youre truly happy and really love this you should go for it, i think you were meant for this kid of service and if that interfere with class and whatnot, granted...it's hard to have to start again but it's all a learning process and i'm sure everything will go smoothly.

Thanks dude that means a lot. I'm really glad to know that I have all your guys' support. I know from the outside looking in the whole idea sounds crazy. It certainly isn't common to take time between High School and college to do something else, especially something like this. I'm not trying to stay in Cali forever, like if the new site was starting in NYC, that's what I definitely would be doing. I know it's pretty damn difficult to keep friendships pretty close when you're on opposite sides of the country not to mention the three hour time difference. I am still going to try to keep up with all you guys just as much if not more. My summer may be cut shorter that it would have been have I had other plans, but its definitely the right decision for me.

-I'm not gonna have a job at all this summer and for the time I spend in Jersey, I want to see as much of you guys as possible. Maybe even a Canada road trip.

schmitty, this is the single best thing ive ever read on lj. thank you for being brave enough to jump out to the west coast...and then stick it out and make such a huge difference. i feel like a better person for having read this, and i think you should do LA.
