Things I think of while watching "The Last Crusade"

Discussion question:

In fiction, if there is a mystery or adventure related to a Christian sect, it is almost always in reference to Catholicism (as opposed to Protestantism, Eastern Orthodoxy, Millenialism, etc.). Why?

Catholicism is more familiar than Eastern or Greek Orthodoxy, and it has a richer/longer history and more elaborate traditions to draw from than Protestant sects.

That'd be my guess anyway.

I would think simply because they're the oldest and most "world-spanning secret/conspiratorial society"-esque of them. (This covers why they show up so much in things like Da Vinci Code, etc) Otherwise they've still got one of the most robust and widespread sets of...for lack of a better word, mythology. All of their stories, from Noah to the Grail. Regardless of actual beliefs, at least in the US everyone knows those stories. Yes there are older "Christian" religions but none that were as successful.
