Writer’s Block is still here!…just not on the homepage

Mar 29, 2012 16:04

What happened to Writer’s Block? In our most recent news about Release 90, we announced that Writer’s Block, a long-running homepage feature that posed a new question every day, was going away. We were pretty clear about what was happening; the section headline “Writer’s Block ending” told most people what they needed to know. No ambiguity there, right ( Read more... )

I'm glad Writer's Block still exists, but I don't think I'll be joining a community just to use it. Writer's Block is the only thing that actually belongs on the homepage, sans LJ news.

No more ONTD. It's starting to seem like the opinions of ONTD are LJ's own, with how often their headlines are spread across the homepage. Please, can't you just make it basic or at least let us customize it? I seriously am bothered by how messy the homepage is.

Not joining. Not going to bother.

With it on the home page it was convenient. Now it's just annoying.

You fixed what wasn't broke and in the process broke it.

Yeah, good job.

I hope whoever made that decision isn't a salaried employee.

I'm not even going to bother with the home page any more. It's just full of annoying crap I'm not interested in that I can't get rid of. The writer's block was the ONLY thing I went to the home page for. Now I don't have to bother.

Great job. Keep up the good work. Helluva job.

Yeah, you REALLY failed to "make clear" that Writer's Block is not gone. What I can't understand is if this was your plan all along, then WHY in the world didn't you MENTION it in the first place? In the original news entry when you said that Writer's Block would be ending, why didn't you point everyone to the community right then and there? You should've mentioned that right up front, especially because you had to know plenty of users might be upset that it was going to be discontinued. Honestly, why would you not have done that? Not everyone is aware of every single community that exists. You gotta let people know this stuff when you're making a change. If your language was ambiguous as you say it was, then I really don't understand why you didn't clear anything up to anyone at the time.

*sigh*

I find it especially odd that not only did they fail to mention writersblock, but they specifically mentioned thequestionclub and ask_me_anything to its exclusion.

I don't think they really planned on keeping it. This is just a response to the explosion of overall protest. This is backpedaling at it's finest.

Why are you putting words in quotations that don't need to be there?
