It has been one year since I last saw him.
He was wearing his ratty old coat and worn shoes.
He said I looked hot and that he was still very sorry.
I told him to fuck off.
He never saw that car coming.

Brian’s hugs feel warmer now.
An I love you seems inappropriate.

They are missed on Liberty.

Nobody knew what had happened to them.
Much talking, many rumors.
They were just gone one day and never returned.
The loft empty with a for sale sign.

They have a fireplace to keep them warm now.
Stables, a pool and each other is all the entertainment they need.

Death In The City

My roommate was murdered.
Shot at an atm.

Brian arrived the very next day.
With a bulletproof vest and pepper spray.
I told him I’m not a little woman. He scoffed.
He stayed another 3 days, glued to my body.

It took a death in the city to end the silent treatment.
Sometimes I wonder.
