[Are you ready for a random little bit of tl;dr, Naruto? Hope you are.]
When he "tries to eat your leg" you could always try yowling much like an injured cat and turning your back on him for a few moments or offer him a tory of sorts instead-- a knotted up sock can do well as a toy, with how little is around here.
As for the scratching? You may want to fetch a fairly smoothed down log or something else it's claws won't get caught in easily as a scratching post, as cats scratch objects and other furniture to tend to their own claws. Firmly state "no" at objects you do not want him to scratch, and praise him when he uses the scratching item you manage to find for him-- you may want to go so far as "demonstrating" how to use it infront of him at first to encourage his curiousity of the item, and yes I mean pretending you are scratching it.
You can also try rubbing pepper on the door if he does keep trying to go back to it, should any be available to you.
Unfortunately, for the entire time that you're talking there-- he'll be frowning and trying to remember and think about what you're saying-- it's a lot... he's not sure he'll-- nope.]
Well, you remember that stuffed animal thing we won that you thought was kinda scary. I mean, he's a boy, and I reckon Konohamaru woulda liked it, so many Negi would, huh?
When are you going? Do you want me to come get ya before, we could go together right? I think so anyway, I mean we don't have to, but it would be good to, don'tcha think?

His actions may also be due to his age-- how long have you had him now?
