Too much free time led to this analogy that my friends and I started making up. We took the entire literary canon, and decided who would be what musician. The general heuristic was that classical authors were pre-60s, medieval times was the 60s, the renaissance/enlightenment was the 70s, modernism was the 80s, and pomo the 90s/now. So, I think that really--Chaucer is a better fit to Springsteen than Dylan.

Also--I think the strindberg/iggy pop match is amiss. I would have to go with something alot more ...out there. I mean like Ionesco would be like something along the lines of Sigur Ros--but Strindberg is more Animal Collective I would have to say .

As for the Hendrix pairing. :shakes head: Disapprove--however I cannot find a better match for it at this point.

Chuck P should be allowed the dual MM/NIN ticket.

I 100% agree with your Homer/Elvis and Shakespeare/ Beatles choices.

For Ibsen--I actually would go with Ani-Difranco. I mean really--Hedda Gabbler, dolls house--'cmon.

James Joyce is incredibly difficult. You'd have to have a separate artist for Ulysses entirely.

I feel the F.Scott Fitzgerald is sorely missing from this list.

Oscar Wilde/David Bowie.
