I haven't read all that much Shakespeare in my life, but it seems to me that Chris Crawford's interactive storytelling heuristics are based on a Shakespearean schema. Just my intuition. Speaking of which, why have I read so few Shakespeare plays? Ugh. It must be some fragment of Milton's soul making me struggle to sit still and read Hamlet.

Maybe slightly in line with what Nick said, but whenever I read Shakespeare (I was obsessed in 5th-6th grade and read most of them) I sort of approached it more like...like the fantasy books I read, in that for most of them the literary merit is questionable, but they're just good fun.
