Is it just me or is Lady GaGa's style reflective of pop music dealing with a new target audience? By that I mean the fact that hipsters (and maybe the gay community?) have become a lot more vocal in steering the direction of pop music. LOL that must be a NY hipster thing. In the bean, Beyonce and Lil' Weezy aren't exactly what you'd call...appropriate listening material?

I do agree that artists like Lady Gaga and Katy Perry are kind of reaching out to the hipster/fashionista/gay/trans community in a big way in terms of how they market themselves/preform/ and dress. Quite frankly, I love it. I think that in years past--pop-stars forgot how to put on a show. I mean, yeah you had Brit and Madge playing tonsil hockey--you had some over-chroeographed numbers--but with artists that are starting to emerge now--you're getting these bigger than life personas and performances that really haven't been prevalent since (I hate to say it...) MJ and the days of the Thriller album release.
