Renji/Uryuu- Between Fall and Winter
Uryuu frowned. Renji scratched his ear and yawned, reclining a little more on the Quincy’s bed. Setting his school bag down with a disgruntled sigh, Uryuu couldn’t help but notice the Shinigami’s sandals making creases on his perfect white sheets, which would undoubtedly need to be washed.
“Whaaat?” Renji asked, sitting up with a quizzical expression on his face.
“At least have the courtesy to remove your shoes, Abarai,” came the reply from the other side of the room, muffled slightly by Uryuu’s bent-over stance as he picked out the books he would begin studying from. Renji complied, kicking off the sandals, though not without a heavy roll of his eyes. “I saw that,” the Quincy informed him with a glare, standing up straight and walking over to sit down on the bit of bed not taken by the sprawled body of his lover. Before he could protest, strong hands gripped him under his arms and deposited him squarely on Renji’s lap. Uryuu frowned again and looked up at the Shinigami with ruffled exasperation, but his only response was a grin and those same arms wrapping securely around his waist. Silently admitting defeat, Uryuu leaned back against Renji’s chest and opened his textbook.
From the vantage point of his chin resting gently atop Uryuu’s head, Renji tried and failed to make any sense of the strange numbers and symbols all across the paper. Thoroughly confused, he opted instead to shut his eyes and hold the boy a little tighter as the November wind set a tree to rattling at the window.
“Happy birthday, kid.”
