Again I JUST LOVE THIS ICON :D

So there's this EXTREMELY LONG 36-question meme going around. HERE IT IS (got this by way of cybertronics and ruins-of-sodom):

1.) If you're on my friends list, I want to know 36 things about you. I don't care if we never talk, or if we already know everything about each other. Short and sweet or long and detailed, all is good.

2.) Comment here with your answers and repost the questionnaire on your own journal.
UH I THINK THIS PART IS TOTALLY OPTIONAL, I'M JUST PUTTING IT HERE BECAUSE IT'S PART OF THE MEME. If you're thinking of doing this, cybertronics has coded it up beautifully over here.

36) Favourite band(s) of ALL time:

Because I took no less than three comments to answer it the first time I did it, I have decided to put all the answers to the generic questions on my journal SO YOU CAN FIND OUT MORE ABOUT ME, HA HA HA. (... I spent five hours in the office today, on a sunny Sunday afternoon, so please forgive the residual insanity. Sadly I am not much better on a normal day.) There are four questions which are specific to the individual filling out the meme (and your relationship to that individual), if you want me to do this for you let me know and I will ♥. They are

here:

10) If you saw me walking down the street would you offer me a ride?

17) What if I showed up at your house unexpectedly?

18) What was your first impression of me?

21) Would you be my crime partner or my conscience?

HERE ARE MY ANSWERS:

01) Are you currently in a serious relationship? I used to be married to my job, but now I'm raising cybertronics with thirdbird as joint parent. As we never see each other this isn't the easiest of situations, but we're doing our best.

02) What was your dream growing up? ALL this is true: my earliest dream was to be a writer. Then when I was 14, I wanted to be a geneticist. When I was 15, I wanted to be a chemicals researcher. When I was 17, I wanted to be a historian. When I was eighteen I considered doing history and what I'm doing now as a double degree; then didn't.

03) What talent do you wish you had? If we're talking IRL, I'd want the talent to see the big picture. If we're talking fandom, I want the talent to draw ultrahot MEN in gritty realistic poses.

If we're talking SUPERPOWER, I want the power to make people do whatever I want them to do. BEST. SUPERPOWER. EVER.

04) If I bought you a drink what would it be? Depends on where we were and what the weather was like! If we were in a cosy cafe and it was a cold day, I'd go for a hot chocolate with an awful lot of whipped cream and marshmallows. Or an English Breakfast or Earl Gray tea (I am very boring), if I didn't feel like something sweet.

And if we were at a bar, either a strawberry daiquiri, a mojito with brown sugar, or a chocolate martini (I did say I was boring). I also like this drink with the incredibly fluffy name of Snow Bunny. If you're ever at a bar with colleagues and want to drink something that won't get you drunk and yet is still sufficiently alcoholic, ask for a Snow Ball (I picked this tip up from risax).

And if we're at a McCafe, I want a Fluffy. :D This is hot milk with marshmallows and foam; and there is McCafe I go to where they make smiley faces with chocolate syrup on top. :D And cover it with chocolate powder. :D

05) Favorite vegetable? Me and the green leafy stuff, we do not get along. As a rule I don't like anything dark green and leafy, though I will eat mixed salad. I like peas. And carrots. And tomatoes (though I am aware they are technically a fruit). I like corn. And eggplant. And peppers (not the chilli type, just the kind that come in red, green, yellow and orange). Colourful vegetables, basically.

06) What was the last book you read? ... Today! It was either the REALLY EXCITING BOOK on the different types of insolvency regimes or the OTHER REALLY EXCITING BOOK about a very specific insolvency regime. :D (I said I was boring, didn't I?)

The last book I read for sheer RUBBISH (which I borrowed in SHEER GLEE yesterday) is this hilarious SELKIE ROMANCE TRASH novel I picked up from the local library. It has a hilarious cover reminiscent of the covers of Chuck the Prophet's Winchester Gospels (the one where Sam is a Fabio-lookalike: blond, long-haired, shirtless, with washboard abs and in jeans).

For this one, the cover is: HOLD YOUR BREATH: shirtless selkie hero in the BREAKING WAVES in JEANS. It's called Sea Fever, and I wish I could tell you more about it, I have not been able to get past the first two chapters (laughing too hard).

I stopped at this scene where the Angsty Selkie Hero went to meet the Angsty Selkie Lord to discuss the Fate of the World (which as far as I can tell, is about Selkies vs. the Demons vs the Humans). SO FUNNY. Please don't borrow this book and PLEASE DON'T BUY THIS BOOK, wait until I read it and tell you all about it. I'm really not sure you want it on your bookshelf.

07) What zodiac sign are you? Sagittarius. *grin* You will probably laugh immensely hard at me, but while I don't want to believe in these things, the three star signs I that I have a marked tendency get along best with are (1) Gemini; (2) Leo; (3) Sagittarius.

The one sign I find I tend to have ... complicated relationships ... (we can have a lot of fun, and we can be really good friends, but work is always involved) with is the Cancer Zodiac sign. I DON'T WANT TO BELIEVE IT, but sometimes there is such a thing as too much coincidence.

08) Any Tattoos and/or Piercings? Explain where. I GOT NOTHIN'. :D

09) Worst Habit? ... procrastination.

10) If you saw me walking down the street would you offer me a ride? This is person-specific!

11) What is your favorite sport? WALKING. :D Swimming in the sunshine. And walking in beautiful places (like the Lake Districts, or any park or garden). None of these are sports, but it's the kind of physical activity I like to do. I'd say running, but really, I prefer walking/hiking in places of great natural beauty.

12) Do you have a Pessimistic or Optimistic attitude?
If this is in relation to general temperament: I'm generally cheerful. I have occasional bad patches in which I am a walking war zone, but they don't last long; a week at the most.

If this is in relation to outlook in life: I look like I'm an optimist, but I'm really a realist with a strong streak of cynicism. A cynical realist, if you will. It's along the lines of, "Prepare for the worst, you'll be happy if you get the best."

13) What would you do if you were stuck in an elevator with me? This is ALSO person specific!

14) Worst thing to ever happen to you? I don't like thinking in those terms: I like to think that even the worst things that happen to you (should you survive them) teach you something and make you more careful, or stronger, or more appreciative of what you've got.

15) Tell me one weird fact about you. To borrow half_sleeping's expression, I look arbitrarily contradictory to my racial heritage. People say I look like a lot of things.

If you want another one: Despite being tiny and feminine, whenever I go out I get SIR'd a lot by service staff. Even if I'm in a dress, even if I'm wearing a skirt, even if I'm with a guy, even if I've got hair down to my shoulders: I just get the SIR form of address. People have been with me and witnessed it to their surprise. I've been told that people look at my face and get a "Don't F&$K With Me" feeling and respond to my AURA OF AUTHORITY. HAHAHAHAHAHA. Don't ask me, I'm just repeating it.

16) Do you have any pets? I have two brothers; they are housetrained.

17) What if I showed up at your house unexpectedly? This is person-specific!

18) What was your first impression of me? Also person-specific!

19) Do you think clowns are cute or scary? Um, if I had to choose I'd say scary, if I could pick my own word I'd say, "A little bit sad, macabre and grotesque", but maybe my impressions have been coloured too much by (a) being terrified of mascots as a small child; (b) Stephen King's It; (c) Zombieland.

20) If you could change one thing about how you look, what would it be? Nothin'. I like myself just the way I am.

21) Would you be my crime partner or my conscience? Person-specific, but generally:

I'm a horrific enabler, but I'm also a great big fan of Telling People If And When They're Doing Something Really Stupid. At the same time, I hate it when people tell me what to do, and therefore I dislike telling people what they should do. IF you ask for my opinion, I'll give it, but other than that, I believe in FREE WILL AND AUTONOMY, EVEN UNTO DOING STUPID THINGS, because sometimes people just don't learn otherwise.

22) What color eyes do you have? Dark brown, but light brown when the sun hits them.

23) Ever been arrested? No. I played a war heroine for a school performance once, though. She was arrested and thrown in jail. But that's not RL.

24) Bottle or can soda? Can. Bottles are pretty, though. But troublesome to open.

25) If you won $10,000 today, what would you do with it? Remember that thing I said about being boring? I'd invest it. I don't think it's enough for a trust fund, but it's a good start.

26) What's your favorite place to hang out at? Bookstores! Friends' places! Nice restaurants and really cool cafes! Libraries! The movie theatre! Parks if there are gorgeous and/or cute dogs in them! Near lakes and inland bodies of water! My home! I CAN'T CHOOSE ONE!

27) Do you believe in ghosts? I BELIEVE IN LEE FALUN. YES.

28) Favorite thing to do in your spare time? Hang out with people! Read, watch movies, eat out, spend time on the Internet, sleep, playing with friends' dogs - lots of things. Sleeping, resting and reading awesome books and spending time on the Internet are among the top few, though. But give me one or two weeks without hanging out with people and I go CRAZY and start suffering people withdrawal.

29) Do you swear a lot? Ordinarily, no. At work? HELL YES.

30) Biggest pet peeve? ... I only get to pick one?! Stupid people, egomaniacs, deliberately ignorant and obtuse people, IDIOTS, insufferable twats, people who are incredibly rude (I'm like Hannibal Lecter that way). But mostly stupid people. I don't suffer fools gladly. God I'm intolerant.

31) In one word, how would you describe yourself? ... CRAZY.

32) Do you believe/appreciate romance? You bet. ♥ I believe that romance isn't just for lovers, I go with that intriguing dictionary definition of "Ardent emotional attachment or involvement between people". ALL THE WAY I BELIEVE IN IT. It's for everybody I love.

33) Favourite and least favourite food? ... DON'T MAKE ME LIST THIS. Food is amazing. I love pancakes and sushi and Korean food and steak and lots and lots of things. My least favourite food? VEGETABLES. And I'm not too fond of Chinese food. Although sometimes I do inexplicably want it; maybe three times in one year.

34) Do you believe in God? ... did they have to ask this question. I would have tried being an atheist, but my heart just won't give up faith. I have no religion, and I don't want to be part of the Catholic or Christian Church, but my heart believes in a God. I can't rationalise it and it used to drive me crazy as a teenager. I suppose a way of expressing it is to quote what Robert Langdon said in the Angels and Demons movie: "I'm an academic. My mind tells me I will never understand God. My heart tells me I am not meant to have faith. Faith is a gift I have yet to receive." (He was being diplomatic in order to gain access to the archives.)

Except that for me, faith is a gift I have, but that I have not yet learnt to understand. My heart tells me that logic has no part in faith, even as my mind can't believe that that can be enough.

35) Will you repost this so I can fill it out and do the same for you? DO THIS IF YOU WANNA! :D

36) Favourite band(s) of ALL time: ... I have a strong I LOVE POP streak all the way through me, so, COVER YOUR EARS. I like to say I prefer songs rather than singers, but yeah. I am going to ignore the fact that it says "Bands" and list solo singers too.

I'll start with the ONE band we have in common: Depeche Mode, and go downhill from there: I like Cobra Starship, The Killers, Switchfoot, Maroon 5, Dashboard Confessional, Daft Punk, SOME John Mayer songs, Franz Ferdinand, the Indigo Girls, VIENNA TENG, Liz Phair, Missy Elliot, LINKIN PARK (I KNOW IT'S TRASHY BUT I LOVE THIER MUSIC), Lady Gaga, and I could go on. I like the Pussycat Dolls' music despite knowing that it's rubbish, same for Britney Spears and Taylor Swift. I grew up on ABBA, the Bee Gees, and Golden Oldies running through my veins. At any one time I can have songs by A Perfect Circle, Nine Inch Nails AND Britney Spears in my playlist and love them all equally.
