A further fine example of how White Collar has destroyed my brain:

Me: Yes. I'll just say, "Hi, Dad's on the run. He can't come to the phone right now."

Things that Now Remind me of White Collar (That Didn't Before)
1. The Deadline, from bb_shousetsu's Historical Romance Issue. The only two non-spoilery things I can say about this story is (1) that the main character is a detective, and (2) it is a noir tale about him investigating a missing person. and then there is one important thing I need to say about the ending that is spoilery, if you are the kind of person who needs warnings for endings (I do).

THE CRITICAL ENDING SPOILER, if you need to know how stories end before you will read them: IT'S AN UNHAPPY ENDING. BUT THE WRITING IS DAMN GOOD AND WORTH IT.
2. Penny Arcade's Automata, a comic-strip series about a detective and his robotic (and soon to be outlawed) partner. Part 1 (this strip alone will help you see why it reminds me of White Collar), Part 2 and onwards; and here is another of their cases, by a separate artist. And a wallpaper.
3. In sam_storyteller's White Collar story Exquisite, the first chapter involves, at one point, Neal demanding that Peter bring him cookies.
so a "notes left on fridges/the office" email was passed around recently, and:
so this reminds me of that story
well. aside from the name signing off.
And oh, this is so MEAN, but it has the same effect on me.
On the Hanna!front: demoerin was doing a character meme and wrote this lovely, lovely Lee and Hanna and unZombie drabble. ♥ Reading it makes me feel like coming into a warm house on a cold, rainy day. And so of course:

I will never take Matt Bomer seriously ever again.
