But why is Peter the puppy? I kind of imagined Neal as the puppy. Although you have put in my head this image of a very stubborn Peter!puppy and Neal the dog trainer attempting to coax social behaviour out of him. Heh.

I've seen... a fair bit of BDSM fic, and this one story in an AU world where convicts were punished by having their memories wiped and replaced with literal animal templates. Neal was a cat-person. He got better.

It's all good! Peter would make an adorable puppy, too: I kind of see him as a golden retriever puppy: a somewhat uptight one that would never do the fun dog things and would have to be coaxed to relax and enjoy himself.

re. JUDGING: No, I know what you mean, I had the same initial reaction myself, but I thought I should give the story a chance. I found the concept really fascinating, and I did like the way it ended. No more evil practice of fixing convicts by making them pets.
