Hiya!

I'm Babs! I've been a fan of Speed Racer since I was about 7. Speed was my first crush; I used to daydream about cruising with him in the Mach 5. :) I was extremely excited when I first learned that the series was going to be made into a movie, though I will admit that I was also a bit worried that Hollywood would trash yet another childhood memory ( Read more... )

You like TNG? Really? Cool! Most people seem to despise it, but I love it. I've only seen the two "movies", because I'm in Germany and we don't get Nicktoons and no one has uploaded them onto the internet, but I'd love to see more and I always squee over what I have seen.

I'm kind of surprised that your husband could sleep through the movie, though...

Sadly, I think Speed Racer: the Next Generation falls into the same category as Star Trek and Star Wars. You either love the originals, or love the "spinquals." It's very rare to find fans who like both. I happen to be one of them.

If I could figure out a way to get them off my DVR I'd be mroe than happy to share them. The one thing I don't like about Nickelodeon is that they bogart their series, offering fans only bits and pieces to call their own. I'll keep an eye out and let you know if I should see any torrents.

I'm surprised, too. I figured the loud explosions would've kept him up. :)

I wasn't interested in Speed Racer at all until I saw the movie on an airplane. So now I'm slowly working my way through the original series. I like it fine, but since I saw the movie first, I'm kind of having a canon clash going on in my head. I think I just need to watch more. *grins* I can't tell you why I love the TNG series- for some reason, I just fell in love with the Beginning and the characters. Though I would really like to figure out what happened to Trixie, Racer X, and the rest of the gang. Including the "original" Chim-Chim.

Nick does the same with their older TV shows. Stuff like Are You Afraid of the Dark or Ahh! Real Monsters or Doug or basically all the great stuff from the early '90s is nearly impossible to get. They never seem to release stuff on DVD. I'm a huge torrent fan and I'd be even willing to pay to download the episodes from iTunes, just so I could upload and torrent them myself. And thanks a lot- I have no idea how to get shows off of a DVR, either. But if you find a torrent, that would be ( ... )

Since my boys have got me hooked on TNG,

I just cannot get into SR:TNG. I don't know why SRE (Speed Racer Enterprises) continues to make these new series involving Speed's progeny. Why not continue the original anime where it left off? They failed miserably with the online series "Speed Racer Lives," which stared Speed and Trixie's twin son and daughter. Poor Speed was relegated to minor character status. After three short webisodes, the series was discontinued.

At the risk of sounding like a perv, I must admit Emile Hirsch has me crushing on Speed all over again. *dreamy sigh*

Perv away! I'm way too old for Emile, but that doesn't stop me from having a major crush on him. I rarely update my LJ, but the last time I did, it was to post a very hot picture him!

Needless to say, I absolutely loved the movie. I even bought a copy of the special Target edition DVD the day it came out.I loved it to death and have lost count how many times I saw it. I just watched it again tonight. I got the Target special edition, too. Even ( ... )

As I said in my previous response SR:TNG is like both the Star Trek and Star Wars franchises. I'm one of the few that happens to like both Speed Racers. Connor and his squeaky Speed doll crack me up every time. I never saw the web series, but do recall a very bad remake of the original that came out shortly after MTV aired the reruns. :P

*wonders if that might be one of the pictures I found to include in a "pretty boy meme" that was circulating through LJ a month or two ago* I use the excuse that I suffer from Mrs. Robinson Syndrome, with the promise that I lust after look, but not touch. :)

My husband teases me about being an obsessive fan, I guess he's right!

Here's to obsessive fans! Woot!

Why yes, yes it is! *fans self*

Given that we seem to share excellent taste (not to mention the fact that my childhood nickname was "Copper Penny") I've gone and friended you. I hope you don't mind. :)

Oh, not at all. I was going to ask if it was okay if I friended you!

Emile is a cutie isn't he? Matthew Fox isn't bad either. ;) And I can't get into TNG. The thought of Speed abandoning his son just didn't click with me. Family was such a big deal in the original series. (Unless I misread the few episodes I saw.) I love one of the voice actors though. Mike S. I think he's the twins. He's a really nice guy!

I feel like a bad fan. I haven't even had the chance to run out and get the DVD yet. I've been watching it on Pay-Per-View over and over though. So, what's on the Special Edition anyways?

Welcome to the community!

Well, his name IS Matthew FOX. Who am I to argue? *laughs*

According to the storyline Speed, Jr. was raised by wolves foster parents for his own safety. Why X wasn't given the same treatment, I don't know. But they're at their dad's school with their Uncle Spritle, so I've decided to remain blissfully oblivious to that point until further information is revealed. :)

Oh man. If Speed Jr was raised by racing wolves, I would so be into that. Or monkeys. It'd be kind of ironic after the Racer family helped raise Chim-Chim.

Maybe if they ever tell us what happened to Speed I'll check that special out. (And Trixie for that matter! D: Presuming that's who he was with. I just saw a few episodes.)

I kind of like the crazy Speed Racer obsessed kid though, the whole first episode I was going, "IT'S JUST LIKE ME!" ;)
