The Week From The Vortex: METAL, Milestones, and the Deadly Motaba Virus...

Mar 06, 2005 13:55

MAD: Talk about an interesting couple of weeks. Despite half of us dying of the Deadly Motaba Virus, we've been one big bunch of productive bastards as of late. Rock on.

Scheduled Practice: Mon 2\1\2005
Duration: 6:00pm - 12:00am
Attendence: Full + Bob, Crystal, Big Rich
Material Practiced: Practice Set, Original Projects, Jam Session
Comments: We rock and rolled our way into the beginnings of two new songs tonight. Not only did we work on our originals, but Jake and Jon got the chance to show off material that they've had on the back burner for quite a while. We ran through our practice set and got right to work on the new stuff. Big Richard and Crystal stopped in for a little while too, so they got rocked. We got to have a pretty long business meeting afterwards and lay out our game plan for the month, I also got to make my business proposal to the rest of the band, but it will still be a while before I get the details outlined. Everyone took to it right off the bat, especially Kenny, who knew exactly where I was coming from before I even had to elaborate. Kudos to him. It's fucking great to have that kind of chemistry with your band-mates. -mad

Scheduled Practice: Tues 2\2\2005
Duration: 7:00pm - 10:00pm
Attendence: Full
Material Practiced: Practice Set, Original Projects, Jam Session
Comments: Last night's long talk must have really settled well with everyone, we were all business today. We flew through the practice set to get to the originals as soon as we could so we could get to the good stuff. We practiced the crap out of our material, and spent a considerable amount of time working Jon's song idea, which is beginning to take the shape of a three movement piece instead of the usual verse\chorus\verse\chorus bullshit. It shows great promise and has one hella beautiful ending that I can't get enough of. Jake came up with some really great material to fill that piece out. I'm really interested in seeing the direction that one is going to take. It's pretty experimental. -mad

Scheduled Practice: Mon 2\28\2005
Duration: 6:00pm - 10:00pm
Attendence: Full + Harley, Bob, Amanda & Julia
Material Practiced: Originals - Methadone, Children in Fire
Comments: Me and Jake are still getting over our particular infirmities, and thus pretty much felt like hammered dog shit. We've decided to concentrate solely on our originals this week and hammer out definate structures for each song. We recorded our rough draft for Methadone without vocals so I can fill in the rest of the lyrics and voice parts on my own time. With a little elbow grease we should have complete first versions for each song by next week. Hella frickin fun people. My voice was too shot to be much singing use, and we think Jake lost one of his lungs during one of his sporadic coughing fits, but by concentrating ONLY on our own material, we got a surprising amount of work done. The breakdown in the middle of Methadone was the result of some serious brilliance on Jon's part. Jake gets to have some drop D guitar fun, and Kenny throws some King Diamond-esque drum beats in there, so we're pretty fucking pleased with ourselves. I should have the completed lyrics and vocals ready in a couple of days. Should anyone find a lung, or obtain one dubiously or otherwise, Jake's in the market for one. -mad

Scheduled Practice: Tues 3\1\2005
Duration: 5:30pm - 8:30pm
Attendence: Full + Harley, Amanda, Zeus & Tina
Material Practiced: Origianls - Methadone, Children in Fire
Comments:
MAD: Methadone is a success. After one hella fucking monstrous writing binge that woke me up at 4 this morning, Meth' and Children' are on well on their way. We put the near-finished lyrics and formula to the song, and it's pretty nifty. We recorded a rough of Children and went over our material a few times, but most of the night went to helping Harley convert the upstairs room in Kenny's backhouse into a makshift Sanford & Son looking recording room. Tina made us some buscuits, and Zeus popped in to say hi later on. My voice is still pretty shot, and the antibiotic I'm on actually makes you hallucinate, fun huh? A big, fat, extra special effin' thanks to Amanda for the pizza!

Jake: Hello loyal subjects, the mass murdering axe man at your service. We are in the process of contructing a montrosity of a studio. That means our germ of metal will soon spread.  vgZERO and becoming dead...........coming soon.
