...OK, actual question here. How DO Canadians celebrate Canada Day? Are there traditions? I saw two people waving Canadian flags in the (American) library where I work, but I don't even know if that is a thing that Canadians do.

Well it depends on what part of Canada you're in. In Halifax we have fireworks at night. Concerts down by the harbour and people dress in red and white. There's usually food being sold down be the harbour as well. People put up flags and hang out.

My family listens to Stompen Tom Music like this people tend to listen to more Canadian music, or watch Canadians shows. When I was in the Yukon YEARS, ago. There was a fair/fun day sort of thing.

Here's a website on some of the stuff. Basically it's just a day for everyone to say they're proud to be Canadian.

And it's also a day of remembrance as July 1 is Memorial Day in Newfoundland. It marks the anniversary of the First World War battle at Beaumont Hamel when the Royal Newfoundland Regiment was nearly wiped out. Sadly most of Canada forgets that.

So yeah, happy sad. We do lots things on Canada day.

XD Thank you! And sure go ahead and re-post it!

Yes my Canada was pretty good. We went out to the Chickenburger and hung around home. My brother and sister were in the Yukon so half the family was gone.
