It was a fresh start, Alice thought to herself as she hauled yet another box into the kitchen. Shoving it onto the now cluttered table she straightened herself up and blew a stray piece of blond hair out of her eyes. She surveyed the room that was now taking shape, a kitchen. Her kitchen to be exact. She grinned at this thought, she'd never given much thought to buying her own house before but after seeing this one she had known it was meant for her.
Hearing a meow, Alice looked down to see Dinah rubbing against her legs. Her mother had let her keep her beloved pet cat, something that she was much indebted for.
“Don't worry, Dinah I remembered to bring your food.” Alice said looking down at her pet as the cat meowed again. Going over to the other side of the table she dug through a different cardboard box then the one she had brought in. After a moment she was able to locate the bowl she'd been looking for and after a few minutes Dinah was happily munching on some dry cat food.
“And now to get back to work.” Alice said more to herself and went back to the table.
It didn't take too long before Alice had managed to get her kitchenware put into some semblance of order. Just as she was leaning over the sink she heard Dinah hiss as though frightened. Turning around quickly she slipped and almost fell against the counter. However she was able to catch herself at the last moment. Once she had managed to get her balance back, she surveyed the scene in front of her. Her pet's back was arched like a spectere directly out of a haunted house and was still hissing at.....
“Oh Cheshire Cat.” Alice shook her head. “Stop scaring Dinah.”
“I, scaring....her?” The Cat replied as he floated well out of reach of the enraged Dinah. “Let us perhaps take a look at this scene again. Your cat's scaring me!” He said all this in the tone of a scared child
Alice however didn't believe him for a second and rolled her eyes as she kneeled to try to quiet Dinah down.
“Come on Dinah, he's just a cat, a floating, disappearing cat but still a cat.” She looked over at the cat that was still floating there. “I know you're not afraid of Dinah, so you can stop pretending.” She sounded angry but it was clear from her expression that she thought this was quite amusing. She had to admit that she had been wondering what would happen when Dinah encountered the Cheshire cat.
“Well I'll be off.” The cat smiled and then disappeared with a purr.
Alice shook her head as she looked down at her now calmer kitty. “You're going to have to get used to him Dinah. Now that we're living in Wonderland you're going to be seeing a lot of him.
