Back in Bangalore

I'm back in town after my Mumbai-Delhi trip. The old man yazad is now married and the young man, my brother, is now engaged. It was a good break. Met many friends in Mumbai, and a few in Delhi. Had fun driving all over South Delhi on the smooth wide roads, and now that I'm back in pothole city, I am missing those roads.

(But how the hell did Bangalore get so freakin' hot? I can't function well in hot weather, and the last week has been torture. Can't sleep properly, can't work at all, and am feeling tired throughout the day. 3 litres of water drunk and I'm still dehydrated. I just hope this changes soon.)

My brother's engagement was conducted in a temple hall (the first time I've stepped inside a temple in 16 years), with about 50 people in attendance. I can't believe the li'l fella is going to get married in August. And the couple had to stand for about 30 minutes on the stage, posing with all the people in attendance, in various combinations. The moron "official photographer" made people switch positions, moving from left to right, then just fathers, then just mothers, then just guy's parents, then just girl's parents blah blah blah. And this is just the engagement. Heaven knows how bad it will be at the wedding and the reception when many more people will be present.

As for me, I had to endure the expected "it's time to get you married off" speech from various quarters (but thankfully not from the parents). More details on all that will be posted in a friends-only entry in the future.

Here is a picture of the happy couple. You can see how my brother looks almost nothing like me. ;)

And... I took lots of food photos in Mumbai, so here are a few of them:

Many more food photos on my Flickr page.
