Without knowing the whole background to this (by the way, that's not a hint, if you don't really want to talk about it I understand) I kind of know what you're saying - I hate the way that an ex from 2002 (affectionately known as The Asshole) still sometimes has the power to affect me, can be some stupid little thing that triggers flashbacks!
