Top 10 Banned Books

I don't know if anyone else has seen or posted about this, but I was looking at The Top 10 Banned Books for 2006 and was completely shocked to find The Perks on it!

Anyway, since (apparently) it is National Banned Books Week...find a book on the list that looks interesting (or even the Perks again!) and read it this week or whenever you get the

I used to be in a mother-daughter book club, and it was my turn to suggest a book to read. I picked The Perks.

It pretty much almost got my mother and me kicked out of the club. Apparently it was "immoral" and the other moms didn't want their precious little darlings reading about sex and drugs and gay people. GASP! Thing is, all of us girls are in high school. I'm sorry, but that's what high school is LIKE. It was ridiculous. Yay for Banned Books Week!

I know really. People are too closed-minded. There are worse books out there. Perks isn't just about sex, drugs and gay people. Another thing...there is nothing wrong with people being gay.
