Why can't you cash the checks? All Michelle has to do is sign the back and then you can take them to the bank and cash them.

As long as the recipient of the check signs the back, whoever has the check can cash or deposit them.

But it's made out to "Marshall and Michelle Clark", and her last name isn't Clark. I dunno. Maybe I've been overthinking this.

The back of the check just has to have the signature "Marshall Clark" and then another signature "Michelle Clark". Once you have both of those, then you can do what you want with them. Whoever actually goes to the bank and CASHES the checks, their ID has to match the signature on the back. So you can cash the checks but Michelle can't until she gets her new driver's license ( ... )
