Stole this from muneca_brava

List ten books that have stayed with you in some way. Don’t take but a few minutes, and don’t think too hard - they don’t have to be the “right” or “great” works, just ones that have touched you.

1. John Connolly's The Book of Lost Things
2. Italo Calvino's The Baron in the Trees
3. Colette's The Ripening Seed
4. Anais Nin's Read more... )

I haven't read any of those but I'm gonna check them out! I should read some Anaïs Nin, especially. I've only read quotes and excerpts but that's been enough to impress me.

I hope you enjoy! Anais Nin is one of my favorites. She's up there right under Colette for me.

I haven't heard of a lot of these, so am adding them to my to-read list - thanks! I adore seeing people's lists of books. I did a similar thing (not really part of a meme) here.

I hope you'll enjoy them! I loved your post, too, and I'll be adding some of those. I loved Watership Down and The Virgin Suicides. Have you ready Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides? It's wonderful. Thanks so much for sharing the link! I look forward to checking out your books.

I have read Middlesex, and I loved it too, but for some reason I connected more with Virgin Suicides. I also read The Marriage Plot, but sadly didn't love it like the other two. Watership Down - I was reading it on the tube in London late one night, and a group of drunk guys started messing with me for reading a bunny book, until one of them realized what book it was, and told everyone to back off. He and I spent the rest of the ride telling his friends all about Fiver and Hazel and Bigwig and their heartwrenching adventure through the wilderness in search of a home. I don't think anybody has ever read Watership Down and not loved it.

I haven't read The Marriage Plot, yet. What a great story about Watership Down! I remember shedding some tears during that one.
