Sorry for the spam, me friend showed my the comm and I got excited :)

For the first challenge, does the MV we pick have to be from a group different from the group we're writing?

And when posting, do we post directly to the comm, or can we cross post like we would normally?

That's alright. :) No, it doesn't matter if the mv you pick is the same as the band you are writing. Either one is going to be fine, the author can choose which they prefer.

can we start writing before the signup ends? (sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, i've never participated in a challenge before) ><;;

In the spirit of a challenge, usually it's better not to write before the challenge starts (takes the fun out of scrambling to finish on time haha), so we'd rather you not, but if you do, we wouldn't know.

what happens if we sign up, but we can't make the word count? because i have a mv in mind but i don't think i have the stamina for a 5k fic :|

Even though we would like everyone to be able to make the 5k word count, we know that not everyone can. So, it's okay to sign-up and try to get as much written as you can.

Yes, it is okay to sign-up though we encourage everyone to try and make the min. word count.

in keeping to the 'theme' of the mv. we can just take any aspect of the mv whether it be the visuals or the lyrics and the song or like the mv's plot and evolve it into our fic? is that what would be expected for the final project?

The 'MV theme' is more inspiration than anything. You're free to write a novelization, so to speak, of the mv or, as you're wondering, you can pull elements from it. What you've taken from the MV should be apparent, but you can interpret as loosely as you'd like.

Dunno if that made sense, so an example:

Infinite's BTD mv, you could do an MBLAQ fic based in a prison, or just a really (really) long fight scene or, even more abstract, deal with internal conflicts one of the members deals with, as the BTD mv implies.

Lemme know if you'd like any further clarification! :)

what is this means? "Beta - Please have your story beta read." ?

It means to have someone proof read over your story for mistakes.
