Sunlight streamed through the window causing the dust to do its morning dance. A man with short blond hair moved under the comforter; he had a feeling that it was later than it felt. His mind was telling him regardless of what time it was, that he should just go back to sleep, and not worry about anything else but that. It was one of his few days off in a very long time, and he should enjoy his short vacation why he still had time.
A petit brunette with her hair flowing around her shoulders and wearing only a fuzzy pink bathrobe came into the bedroom delicately balancing a green tray. The tray contained two white mugs filled as close to the rim without spilling with coffee, and a green plate piled high with fluffy scrambled eggs, and also two forks. She had the retractable legs out on the tray, so she could easily sat it on the bed and not spill anything. “Dawson, darling,” a smile emanated from her voice as she sat carefully on the bed.
Dawson pulled himself into a sitting position, and pushed the pushed the red and green comforter off of himself. His hair was going in all directions.
She reached over out of habit, and fixed his hair, with a big smile.
“Breakfast in bed, you are too good for me Joey.” Dawson carefully turned one of the handles of a coffee mug towards him, and picked it up. He took a long sip of coffee, both his hands wrapped around the warm mug. “I love you.”
“I love you, too.” She leaned over and kissed him on the nose. Then, she picked up one of the forks, a wedding present from what seemed like a million years ago, and picked up some of the eggs. She ate them, watching him, and enjoying this moment. Joey didn’t realize how much she had missed him. He had been in Los Angeles for almost a whole year, working on his series The Creek.
Dawson set the mug back on the tray. He glanced behind him, and was surprised to see that it was almost noon, and it was exactly the time he thought it was, despite the feeling that it was almost evening time. He gave her a warm smile, and shoveled some of the eggs into his mouth. He then, picked some more up on the fork, and tried to feed them to Joey.
The eggs feel on the bed, causing Joey to giggle. He picked them up, and put them carefully in her mouth. They had just washed the sheets recently, so he was sure there was no harm in feeding her off the bed.
This morning seemed just like the many mornings they had spent together, whether it was in their New York apartment, the LA one, or their warm cozy home here at Capeside. It seemed surreal to think that they had been married for almost five years.
They had been in love for what seemed like forever, and for awhile though they didn’t see each other every day, they always seemed to both know they would end up here at this place in their lives.
She didn’t know it then, but she thinks she feel in love with him when they first met at 5, even though that probably wasn’t the nicest first meeting. She thinks she pushed him or something, she wasn’t quite sure. Though, she was sure she could always find the video tape of it somewhere, but she rather felt like living with her memory, and not an implanted one at the moment.
Joey leaned forward and kissed him softly on the lips. She was going to ask him about work, but had decided not to do it. She had big news for him, and she didn’t want it ruined by him working on the first day of his hiatus, especially since in two weeks he would be taken away from her again to help Todd with some movie.
Dawson took another sip of coffee. He wished he could stay in this moment forever. He loved the fact that they could just look at each other, and not have to say a word to each other. He loved how everything in his life seemed to be working out so perfectly, he had more things than he had ever dreamed of, both material and non-material. Five years ago, after Jen’s death, when Joey had moved in with Pacey, Dawson thought he had finally given up on the thought of Joey and him ever being together. But a month after they had moved in together, Pacey and Joey realized that it would never work out between them, and she had run back to Dawson that very day. Pacey and Joey were still friends, as were Dawson and Pacey. Pacey had even been best man at the wedding.
Dawson wondered if he just took the tray of the bed, and kissed her what would happen. He was reaching for the tray when the phone rang.
She talked for a few minutes before hanging up. “It was your mom, reminding us about dinner tonight.” She said, even though she knew he had probably been ease dropping on the conversation.
He smiled, “So, what is it you want to do till then?”
Joey pushed a strand of brunette hair behind her ear. “I have some news to tell you, I was going to wait till we got over to your mom’s house. But I can’t wait anymore.”
“What?” Dawson asked, vaguely aware of what the news was probably going to be.
Joey looked down at the covers for a moment, causing Dawson to lift her chin slightly, and gaze into her eyes. She found herself giggling. “I’m pregnant.”
Dawson picked the tray up, and put it on the floor. He pulled her into a long hug. “That’s wonderful sweetheart.” He kissed her hair, he felt like doing a dance on top of the bed.
