What would motivate you to join the army, marines, airforce, etc? That's if they recruited you and started you off at a decent ranking and good pay, is that something you would consider

Regarding minorities... They don't target minorities per se, they target those people with lower economic standing, who maybe can't afford college. They targeted me because hey, look at this guy: He hasn't made progress towards getting a college degree, he doesn't have a 'real job' (ie, better than slave wage), he's not being useful to society in general. Let's get him in the army! They do, indeed pay for your college. That's not a lie... however, they sugarcoat the service, talking about how great it is, and blah blah.

So... Why am I doing it? Because they're right, where i'm at now, i'm not being useful to society. They're offering me a chance to learn a useful job skill, and then a paying job right after that. I can't find a good job right now, better than working at Jamba Juice. And my mom says any xiao mei still in high school can do that shit

It all comes down to how you want to live your life. The armed services do offer a lot of bendfits, but like everything in life it has a cost. Finding a job that has nothing to do with the government is not that hard, but they dont offer the same benefits. It all just depends how you want to live. Everything in life has its cost, you just have to select them.

could you let yourself live with the guilt that many of your people have died working in armed services?

My people have been dying defending their home, be it Mexico or the United States. There have been Mexicans in every war since WW2. And like the African Americans, White, Mexican and every other race that fits in America, suffered losses. I dont agree with the current war, but it is something the people that go decide to do. I dont see it as guilt, I see it pride. Just like I see my self getting and education as making my parents proud. They died defending something they felt was their home, something they felt was right. Who are we to say what we view is right. I also beleive it doesnt have to be just about my people. My people is fully capable of making decisions. I will support people who go to the military because it is hard. It is something not everyone can do. It just comes down to what people believe. We are all going to die, and what believe when we die is our choice. I dont feel guilty because they died, they died for their choice and their belief. wow that was a very good response..in regards to your question about what someone does if they don't want to major in english, etc what about getting work experience? i don't really know the answer, it's just something that i wonder all the time when minorities are fighting in the war and losing their lives, are they fighting a hopeless war against our own society or are they fighting to defend freedom?

But i appreciate you giving such a thorough response, it is something i will have to think about further.
