Is it possible to be a sell-out if you're trying to make money to "make money" and just have a nice life? That's one of burning questions I really want to know what people think ( Read more... )

You're asking, perhaps, if that compromises your artistic integrity, making money to make money? Well I guess.. that really depends? For an artist, like a singer or painter, selling out means you conform to what sells, what the crude, unwashed masses want to buy.

If you're just working as an accountant, or a stock broker, using money to make money, or just working with it for your salary... How are you a sell out? Making money is your art. The cannier a businessman is, the more clever the deals he cuts, the more he's perceieved to be a greater business person. You might even say he is an 'artist' in his chosen profession, because clever businessmen invent new techniques, new methods, things just leaps and bounds ahead of everyone else.
