i have trouble saying "christian" with a straight face anymore.
how am i going to call myself a christian when christianity is the opposite of what jesus wanted for his people. think of how many christians follow one of the two rules Jesus said were most important? im sick of "christianity" and im sick and tired of "christians" thinking their real ( Read more... )

that is so very true. i don't consider myself a christian at all, but i do revere the teachings of jesus.

I think that... (sorry, I'm just a stranger commenting) people who are Christian and who do respect and do their best to uphold the teachings of Christ and who 'spread' his church by compassion and empathy rather than by intolerance and/or violence, well.. they SHOULD call themselves Christians. Don't be disgusted into stripping away the entitlement. After all, if Christians only consisted of deliberately rude, condemning, cruel types... there wouldn't be anybody left who stood for what purpose "Christianity" was founded on.

Don't let 'em run you off. "Killem with kindness", that's what grandma used to say. If enough loving people remain rooted in their purpose and under the broad title of Christianity, then those who aren't being very loving will soon find that there isn't room for their judgement.

It is my sense that the great turnoff will have revolutionary affects if we all just keep on keeping on, and offer Christianity a better, more honest reputation.
