While I play videogames fairly often, I'm not much of a hardcore gamer sort. For example, I've never played any of the Half-Life series. Yes yes, heresy, I know. I don't have anything against Half-Life or something. There's a lot of great games out there that I've just never gotten around to playing

Yes, I am, and yes, it most certainly is! Gordon Frohman is the main character from the first HL, right? The name sounds familiar.

Ah, gotcha. I was close, at least! Jayne would make a good space marine... he'd finally have the chance to spend a lot of quality time with Vera.

I played the first Half-Life, briefly, because I was working at Babbage's when it came out, the game was getting tons of hype, and I wanted to be able to sell it correctly. I didn't get very far (I both suck at and hate shooters), but it was better than the average FPS.

I might pick up Orange Box because they've ported it to the 360, and I fare better on console shooters. All the same, the only shooter I really enjoyed was Darkness, in which tentacles sprouted out of my shoulders and ate faces and hearts. That was cool.

I'm pretty awful at shooters myself, so I know how you feel. That's why Portal appealed to me, I think, more than the HL games have in the past. I heart puzzles in games... except when they're jump puzzles.

Because I did just that very thing this weekend: I listened to Still Alive six hundred times, and then I got Portal (online donwload, $20 from Steam, I do not love Steam but I love not going to the store).

Verdict: ASTOUNDINGLY AWESOME.

Then again, if you're having a psychotic breakdown, you might not realize that I am you. But I'm sure that's not the case... really!
