Still a cesspool of misogyny. No chance of improvement -- self-selection works too well.

Whatever.

eh
reminds me of the old joke about why Rabinovich goes to antisemitic meetings

and anyway, the world at large is a cesspool of misogyny - a rather unfortunate fact. which is no reason to throw down the gloves and give up! :)

i personally prefer bormor's view of things: http://bormor.livejournal.com/6817.html

see, the IT world at large is actually much better than what Slashdot comment threads would lead you to believe.

I've worked with very, very smart and tech-savvy people in both genders, and I've worked with hopeless "buddy/honey, you really need to switch professions" folks -- again, in both genders.

But most people I work with, no matter where on the normal curve their intelligence/ability to grok technology belongs, are nice people. It wouldn't occur to them to start screaming generalization of the " all people not in (my self-identification set) are (some unpleasant term)"

They don't scream it because harrassment and SOX laws prohibit it.
If you want to talk about general idiocy, mysogyny and irrensposibility, the kind that makes you lose your faith in humanity - take a look at youtube comments.
And don't you worry your pretty little head about it =)

And before you ask, will not look at Fark comment threads, either
