Aw, I wanted Posy to win. But Jedric winning and proving everyone wrong makes sense, too, and good for him. This has been fantastic, and thank you so much for plowing through; I know how tough that can be at times.
Thanks! Just posted the epilogue, so it is truly done. I know a lot of people wanted Posy to win, but she was so young and ill-prepared! Also when I started I kind of had in mind that Haymitch was District 12's first victor, which kind of locked her out. Now I realize they had another who died, but I'd already decided by now. And then, too, I feel like it would kind of be cruel to have her volunteer to escape being whored out to a guy, only to be whored out by the Capitol instead. Jedric doesn't have the looks or personality to make him particularly popular in that direction.

Just noticed a continuity error between the last chapter and this one: "The hunter spun to face her, spear rising, flying. And, somehow, Tanna twisted, an expression of utter delight on her face as the spear flew by her and she grinned at the Career, trying to share her pleasure. Only Jedric figured probably the other girl wasn’t laughing. Or, if she was, it wasn’t at the same joke."
"Merith shook her head almost in pity as the crazy girl burst out of the trees at her, dancing and grinning like she was at a party or something. She hefted her spear once and threw, her aim perfect as always, the spear cutting straight through the girl’s throat. "
