Lovely story! I found the choice of Jedric interesting, but considering how much he was underestimated and how much the Arena was a mess, it makes a certain level of sense. And as much as I loved Posy, it couldn't be her - I think Katniss would've mentioned it if Twelve had won BOTH Quarter Quells. And you're right about escaping being a whore to be turned into a whore not exactly being desirable. I was actually kind of hoping for Myra - she had some skills and a chance - but Jedric works, and I completely understand wanting one character to win and working toward that outcome.
One thing you should do when you edit is make sure it's clear who's dead - I lost track of some of them, and when it got to "there's me and five others left" or whatever the wording was, I had to go back and count and figure out where a few of the tributes died.
Still, excellent story, and once you've got it edited, it will likely end up on a recs tumblr I help run.
Thanks! And yes, the both Quarter Quells thing was my other reason--I knew I'd forgotten something when I'd said why Posy couldn't win! I don't think Jedric would have had a chance face to face with one of the careers, but between his trap, the fact he was underestimated, and Tanna's distraction, I thought it made sense. I like Myra a lot, she's maybe my favorite. But there was no way she was going to kill Posy, And there's the fact, again, of winning not being an entirely good thing. Especially for tributes with someone they care about, something to lose. Jedric... he's not a bad guy, but the Capitol won't find him particularly attractive (especially if, somehow, he just ... never really learns to talk properly. And always has trouble interpreting what he hears. Which makes no scientific sense, according to all the doctors, and yet... *g* he's good at seeing the ramifications of his choices and looking at the long term.) And he was the second character I thought of (third? Rosin might have been second...) and I knew he was

Yeah, Myra wouldn't have killed Posy, and you're right that she would've been considered desirable, while Jedric wouldn't be.
The nightly cannon thing is probably the way to go - when Posy's watching that first night, you can have her list who's dead, something like "both from Seven, both from Eight, girl from Nine" etc. Since it was a lot of the minor ones who died on the first day that I lost track of, I think - Tillie and Becky and Dirk were the ones I had to double check, if I recall correctly. And you can have someone see the pictures every day. So yeah, that's an easy way to do it.
