Customer rant

I need a rant.

Last night's intake included a middle-aged French couple and two familes, one Dutch one British, with two young children apiece. The English family and the French couple had dinner with us last night. The French woman sat through the whole meal with a face like a cat's bum and barely spoke a word directly to us, despite our attempts ( Read more... )

Goodness, well how dare you snatch away French property and run a French B&B when you're English! Sheesh. Every single B&B pamphlet I've ever seen and most of the websites give one a very good clue as to who is running the place and what languages are spoken, etc.... I think Madame is a xenophobic twit, who ought to stay in Paris or wherever she's from, and never, ever find out who her neighbors are.

May the rest of your guests have better manners.

Thanks! Fortunately, they do.

Apparently this couple found us on the Gites de France website and may just have assumed we were French. How they managed to ignore the fact that my husband's first name is definitely not French beats me!

You know there are ****holes from all over, and I've had similar experiences from English...that doesn't mean I don't sympathise, because I do, but just to say I hope the next Fr guests make up for it. We have a Fr family arriving today, and one left this morning, everyone else has been English or American, no big problems so far...
Anyway, bonne courage, because it does hurt a bit, when people do this, it's the dishonesty of it really.

****holery is the same the world over. I have met some truly appalling English people out here. I go out of my way to avoid them when I see them coming :-).

We had a French wedding party in last night. They were very jolly and seemed to like the place a lot. We also had an English family who are regulars. Their three sons are all in love with our dog, so we sat and chatted to them for a bit while the boys played with Picsou. Cheered me up no end.

What a twit. I can think of far stronger more Anglo Saxon words for her *hugs*

Thanks for the hugs. Believe me, I was calling her several Anglo Saxon swear words under my breath. I only wish I knew the French equivalents but our French teacher gets a bit prudish when I ask her :-).

Thank you. I'm really glad they left early. Three days of them would have been awful.

Wow. Was she mad at you for daring to be English while running a B&B in France, or mad at the English couple for daring to come to France for a visit? Or mad at them for daring to bring their children into her country?

Sorry you have to put up with people like that (and lose money on them), but at least she's gone now. You're definitely well rid of her.

I think she was just mad, full stop, to be honest. Her husband was a bit more reasonable but he definitely danced to his wife's tune. The worst thing is that she is apparently a teacher. I feel heartily sorry for the kids in her care since she obviously hates small children with a passion.
