Well, I got my fic finished but hubby's fishing trip was a complete disaster.

About three-quarters of an hour after he'd left the house I got a call saying he'd broken down.  The brakes had failed completely.  Luckily it happened on a quiet stretch of road at a time when no other cars were about.  Over a week later I still get the heebie-jeebies ( Read more... )

Sorry to hear about the car. At least no one was hurt.

Dogs and small children do make it easier to get talking to people!

I still think of England as 'home' in a sense too. I'll always say, "Oh, we're going home for Christmas", meaning to the UK! And I'm so sorry to hear about 3. I hope you are in good health now. I can certainly understand that it gives you nightmares. *hugs*

Hi there! themolesmother October 9 2006, 19:37:45 UTC
It's good to hear from you.

It's odd this concept of "home", isn't it? I have a lovely house here and on the whole I'm very happy but I still talk about going home - meaning the UK - too. I suppose it's because England is where I was born and bought up.

Ref 3. Everything is fine at the moment, thanks. Yes, it still gets to me at times but I try and get on with life, regardless.

Take care of yourself. Hope you're getting a bit more rest these days. *hugs back*

Sorry to hear about the nasty car incident - and very glad to hear that no-one was hurt (much better to be mildly bored than injured!).

Looking forward to the fic!

How are you getting on with Rubeus Hagrid and the Eagle of the Ninth?

I've done a bit more on Hagrid - but the idea which seemed so simple at the outset is really not that easy to get working! But I haven't given up!

What breed is Timsehare Dog? Sounds very Jack Russell to me - but then I'm feeling very Jack Russell conscious at the moment. New Rescue Dog is currently lounging in front of the fire after a five hour trip up from the South of England yesterday.

Timeshare Dog is apparently a Fox Terrier Lhasa Apsu (don't know if I've got the spelling right, here) cross. Hubby (who has been owned by a Jack Rusell in the past) reckons his behaviour is a bit Jack Russell-ish. He's incredibly affectionate, rather lazy, and good with children but he does have that slight ornery streak which means we have to keep an eye on him in the company of other dogs.

Sounds like Rescue Dog is settling in. Hope things go well in the coming days.

Settling in nicely. He has gone for a walk with son-out-law's dogs and they all took to each other; I went to work this afternoon and "my friend the medievalist" came and played with him a bit. He's nervous of new things - he doesn't like very loud noises or walking under railway bridges - but we're starting to get the hang of each other.

I've been living in Canada for 12 years now and I still call Britain 'home' ...

Yes, I know what you mean. I can't imagine it ever changing, either.
