Are you two vegans or lacto-ovo? I remember all the trouble we had in your end of the world as I don't eat beef or pork.

Oh, I have absolutely no doubt upper management are walking off with nice fat golden handshakes. Former CEO retired last year, 2.5 million quid the richer, as he was the one who masterminded the sale of the company to its current owner and they bought all his share options. Current owner has now decided that the company isn't quite what they expected, so it's up for sale again. Hence the reorganisation - they're looking to cut costs to make it look good for a potential buyer.

Neither of us are vegan, fortunately. Its possible to survive here as a lacto-ovo veggie if you are prepared to eat omelette or chevre chaud every time you go out. The place we ate at was offering a "gateau d'automme", a sort of souffle with tiny lentils in it, accompanied by a carrot and leek puree and ratatouille. It was really delcious - we'll certainly be going there again.

No deep well available but we do have a very big cellar. Believe me, I had a lot of fantasies concerning a heavy rock and that cellar ... *evil grin*.
