Got back late Tuesday night and just about managed the unpacking before collapsing in a heap of goo.
As holidays go it wasn’t the most restful but it was tremendous fun. It also seemed more than ironic to be traveling from a tourist region to take a break in Cleethorpes and Reading. Not two of the most obvious places that spring to mind when

I have fond, if now sadly distant, memories of my grandad cooking the sprouts on a camping gaz stove in the garden on Christmas Day, to free up a hob. But then, those were the days when we sat down 12 to Christmas Dinner....

There were five of us at this feast - parents in law, me and hubby and my sister in law. There was enough food for 12 :-). Mother in law was panicking because she didn't think she'd get it done in time so hubby and I went into dinner cooking mode and helped her pull through. It was all great fun, and the eventual dinner was wonderful.
