Health Whinge and a Milestone

The UK trip may have been great for my mental health but it did my sciatica no good at all.   Three courses of anti-inflammatory tablets did very little but keep it at bay, so it was back to the doctor again.   Our regular doctor was away. His locum examined me thoroughly then decided to prescribe a course of strong anti-inflammatory injections.  ( Read more... )

Sorry to hear you've not been feeling well. Get better soon!

And yay for Chapter 4! I do like Tracey, so I'm glad you're going on with this project...

Thanks for the good wishes - I'm feeling much better now the pain has diminished and the whole thing seems to be on the mend.

I really want to persevere with Come the Revolution as I'm enjoying it immensely. It's very heartening to know that other people do, too.

*shudder* I've only had sciatica once and that was once too many. Much sympathy and massive congratulations on reading the novel sans dictionary. My French isn't nearly that good, museum French we call it. Conversational? Hardly, unless babytalk counts.

Me too, and I echo your sentiments. I suppose it was bound to happen eventually as I've had trouble on and off with my lower back since my son was born. I did the Alexander Technique for a while about ten years ago and that helped enormously. Serves me right for letting things slip. I'm trying to get back into it now with hubby's help. He did it far longer than I did and remembers much more.

Now all I have to do is write the damn thing.

Ah. Good luck! (And congrats on the French - a significant acheivement).

Yes, it's the actual writing that's the damnable bit, isn't it?

I do hope you feel better soon. I know sciatica is a nightmare and yours sounds a lot worse than mine.

Congrats on getting through the novel :)

Congrats on getting through the novel :)

Thanks! It's been an important psychological barrier for me. Up until now I've had myself convinced that there's no way I could ever enjoy a novel in French the same way I enjoy one in English without being fluent.
